As of January 1, 2023, the Federal Office of Consumer Health (BAVG) is the competent authority for the official control within the meaning of the Market Surveillance Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2019/1020) of consignments of consumer goods and cosmetic products entering the European Union via Austrian territory in accordance with Section 6c of the Health and Food Safety Act (GESG) in conjunction with Section 25a of the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Act (LMSVG). The official control is carried out in close cooperation with the Austrian Customs Office.
