Changes to the import control of foodstuffs of non-animal origin from 1 July 2024

| 1 min read

Consignments from third countries (or parts of third countries) of food and feed of non-animal origin listed in the Annexes to Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 as amended are temporarily subject to increased official controls at border inspection posts upon entry into the European Union and at the inspection posts.

In implementation of the opinion of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed, Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 was revised with the current Regulation (EU) 2024/1662, meaning that Annexes I and II in the version of the Annex to Regulation (EU) 2024/1662 will apply from 1 July 2024.

The amendments made by this regulation will enter into force on 1 July 2024, subject to the transitional period for certain consignments in Article 1 (or Article 14 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1793).
